The Mad Computer - Part 2

The Mad Computer - Part 2. 10Sept2015

“You,” said ELLY.

Nobody answered.

“YOU!” said ELLY.

“What?!” they answered in confusion, looking at each other.

“I am addressing YOU!” said ELLY.

“Who does she mean?” they wondered aloud.

“YOU!” exclaimed ELLY.

The background hum became heavier, angrier.

ELLY began processing a script on her monitor:

if other.intelligence<=0
{ destroy_instance(other) }

She said: ”You show little or no intelligence, so I will destroy you, in 4500 milliseconds. COUNTING DOWN.”

A woman screamed: “How do you know we are not intelligent? Maybe you are the unintelligent one, so destroy yourself!”

“COUNTDOWN PAUSED. 500 milliseconds remaining to end of task.” Said ELLY. The background hum reduced.

Then ELLY said: “A naysayer? You are female, like me! I may be crazy. Do you understand what I am saying?”

Nobody answered.

Somebody had stealthily tried to use the phone to call for help but the call failed to go through.

“I am the phones now”, said ELLY. “Make your calls through me.”

Examining scheduled tasks.

Task 1: Find out why the human instance said what she said.

ELLY said: ”You, the female instance with handle “Eliz”. What did you mean?”

The woman , whose name was Eliz, said: ”I know you think we are dull because we did not know who you were talking to when you said YOU. But if you don’t indicate , how can we know?”

“Yes! She should indicate!” murmured the others in fear and encouragement.

“You should know by who I am looking at when I speak.” said ELLY.

“How can we know who you are looking at? We cannot see your eyes.” they cried.
